According to a report by Dot Esports, Team Liquid plan to sign Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, returning him to the top lane in his League Championship Series debut. He will play alongside mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and bot laner Steven “Hans sama” Liv, as first reported by Upcomer.

Team Liquid shores up roster ahead of free agency window

The report also claimed that while Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in is slated to start for the LCS roster, there is a chance Bill “Eyla” Nguyen may play in his place while the South Korean player waits for his U.S. Permanent Resident (Green) Card to be approved. CoreJJ would not be able to play alongside Bwipo and Hans Sama due to Riot Games’ interregional movement policy, which restricts the number of foreign players on teams to two.

Before joining Team Liquid, Bwipo was a staple of Fnatic dating back to 2018. He had recently swapped to the jungler position, allowing League of Legends European Championship rookie Adam “Adam” Maanane to play top. Together, the team pulled off a deep run in the LEC 2021 Summer Playoffs, finishing second after a 1-3 loss to MAD Lions. This allowed them to qualify for the 2021 League of Legends World Championship, where they finished in the group stage with a 1-5 record.

It is currently unclear who Team Liquid will play in the jungle, though the report states the team may offer an extension to Lucas “Santorin” Larsen after he becomes a free agent when the window officially opens, since he won’t take up an import slot.
