According to a report by Dot Esports, G2 Esports will sign Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé as their new support. Targamas is a Belgian player, currently playing for the French organization, Karmine Corp, in the European Regional Leagues. Targamas announced his free-agent status on Oct. 6 and would be the first player to join G2 this offseason.
Targamas would be replacing current G2 support, Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, who has played for the team for the past three seasons. While on G2, Mikyx won the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational and reached the 2019 League of Legends World Championship Finals as well. He also won his first four splits with the League of Legends European Championship team.
After a historically terrible year for the otherwise legendary org, G2 Esports have decided to replace three of their five starters going into the 2022 season and have released much of their staff as well. Targamas is the first player reportedly named as a replacement for one of the members exiting the org. Should the reported agreement go through, Targamas will join Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and Rasmus “Caps” Winther.
G2 still have a lot of changes to make to complete their roster and staff. It was also reported that former Riot Games employee and General Manager, Romain Bigeard, will join the team for this upcoming season. He was most recently the business development manager for the LEC, but has also been the GM of multiple orgs, both in Europe and North America.
Targamas and Karmine Corp have had an incredible year, winning the Ligue Française de League of Legends in spring and the European Masters main event in both spring and summer. They took second place in the LFL summer playoffs and in the overall LFL 2021 finals.
Targamas has played for numerous LEC Academy teams, including Vitality, Fnatic, and Misfits. The support player appeared in the European League of Legends Championship Series on Giants Gaming back in 2017.
