Brazilian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Rafael “saffee” Costa is slated to join FURIA Esports’ 2022 roster according to a report by 1pvr.fr. Currently playing for paiN Gaming, the 27-year-old AWPer has been a stand out player for the organization. Most notably, paiN secured themselves a spot at the 2021 PGL Major this year in Stockholm.

In late November, FURIA coach Nicholas “guerri” Nogueira announced Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo would not be with the roster going into the 2022 season. According to a statement released by the coach on Nov. 25, guerri said the organization was looking to bring a dedicated AWPer onto the team. After four years, the rifler’s long-standing position within the organization comes to a close. This news came shortly after reports surfaced of VINI being in talks with Team Liquid by 1pvr.fr.

Several weeks ago, Globo reported FURIA was interested in replacing VINI with saffee. At the time of their publication, Globo stated FURIA had already made an offer for saffee.

The 1pvr.fr report said several weeks of negotiations have finalized the roster move and saffee will officially join the team for the 2022 season. Furthermore, 1pv.fr reports the 27 year old turned down an offer to join Marcelo “coldzera” David’s project to join forces with FURIA.

FURIA had a decent 2021 season. They placed top two at three A-tier events and made the Champions Stage at the PGL Major. The only other offline event the team attended was Intel Extreme Masters XVI in Cologne, Germany where they placed just outside the top eight.

With paiN Gaming, saffee’s highest placement in 2021 in an A-tier event was at IEM Season XVI Fall: North America. The team placed fourth, just behind Team Liquid, GODSENT and FURIA.

FURIA’s 2022 CS:GO roster will reportedly be as follows:

  • Andrei “arT” Piovezan
  • Yuri “yuurih” Santos
  • Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato
  • André “drop” Abreu
  •  Rafael “saffee” Costa
  • Nicholas “guerri” Nogueira (coach)
