If you’re a Pokémon fan, then you’ll be well aware that this year is the 25th anniversary of Pokémon. There have already been lots of celebrations, including a Katy Perry collaboration, new trading cards, a Post Malone concert series, and more. Pokémon fans and brands all around the world are going crazy on social media too, from fan-art, to Corsair showing off the K100 keyboard in Pokémon lighting, to Pokémon cosplay. If you have Pokémon Sword and/or Shield, you can now join in the fun too. From now until late March, you can collect a special Pikachu that knows the move “Sing”. Read on to find out how to add this special Pikachu to your game.

How to get Pikachu with Sing in Pokémon Sword/Shield

If you have Pokémon Sword/Shield, then you can easily grab a special Pikachu in-game. This Pikachu will come with the move “Sing”, a move it can’t usually learn. To get this Pikachu, fire up your game, and follow these steps:

  1. Open the X Menu and select “Mystery Gift”
  2. Select “Get a Mystery Gift”
  3. Select “Get with Code/Password”. This will save your game and connect you to the internet.
  4. Enter the code: “P25MUS1C”
  5. Your gift will arrive in the game

Since your gift is a Pokémon, Pikachu will appear in your party, or your Pokémon box, depending on your available space. Make sure you save your game once it’s confirmed you have received Pikachu. Your special Pikachu will also know Encore, Celebrate, and Electro Ball. It will be level 25, and have the “Lighting Rod” ability. Plus, your Pikachu comes with a held Light Ball, and a Souvenir Ribbon. You have until March 25 to collect this mystery gift, so it’s worth sorting soon if you don’t want to miss out.

Continue the 25th anniversary celebrations

The official 25 year anniversary of Pokémon occurred on February 27. 25 years ago on this date, the very first Pokémon games were released on Nintendo Game Boy. Being as popular as Pokémon is, it was always unlikely the celebrations were going to last a single day. The 25th anniversary of Pokémon is set to go on all year, with a bunch of ways for you to join in the festivities. McDonald’s is currently giving away Pokémon cards with every happy meal, and you can relive some of the nostalgic Pokémon music on Pokémon TV. Plus, there’s so much happening in Pokémon GO this March, including the new Battle Season.
