The Pokémon Company shared details on Thursday about a new painting lemur Pokémon coming to Scarlet and Violet, Grafaiai. Paldea’s artistic aye-aye was first teased on Tuesday through images of rings painted on trees.

Then, its reveal trailer showed animated footage a Grafaiai painting over the markings left by a different Grafaiai. This video, narrated by the fictional photographer capturing the footage, also shows a Scatterbug that Grafaiai has lured in by the scent of its paint.

Like real-life aye-ayes, Grafaia has a long, thin middle finger, which it uses to paint. Of course, the paint it uses isn’t actually paint; it’s the creature’s poisonous saliva. The color of Grafaiai’s saliva depends on its diet, with different berries resulting in different colors. It is unclear whether players will actually be able to change the color of Grafaia’s saliva by feeding it berries in-game.

Naturally, Grafaiai doesn’t merely use its colorful saliva to mark its territory in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The poisonous substance is also useful in battle. This Pokémon possesses the ability to spit its saliva to damage opponents or scratch them after covering its claws with saliva.

More about Grafaiai in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Grafaiai is a Poison/Normal-type Pokémon, making it the first-ever Pokémon with this type combination. This means it will take neutral damage from Fighting-type attacks, making its only weaknesses Psychic and Ground. It will also be immune to Ghost and will resist Poison, Bug and Grass.

According to Centro LEAKS, Grafaiai is already fully-evolved, despite its seemingly small stature. It reportedly has a pre-evolution that bears a resemblance to a mouse. However, The Pokémon Company has not yet confirmed the existence of the pre-evolution.

Grafaiai joins a line-up of other new monsters that includes Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Lechonk, Pawmi, Smoliv, Paldean Wooper, Fidough, Cetitan, Miraidon, Koraidon, Cyclizar and more. All of these Pokémon will make their official debuts when Scarlet and Violet launch on Nov. 18.
