The Overwatch League (OWL) announced the Hero Bans for next week earlier this morning after the games in China finished. Sombra, Reaper, Ana, and D.Va won’t be available for OWL players in Week 10. Here’s how each of these bans impacts the meta.

Sombra

Sombra has been a popular OWL pick recently, with a 23.2 percent pick rate in Weeks 8 and 9. Her ban means that players will not be able to use EMP to hack enemies in team fights. This benefits any hero that relies on their abilities like Mei, Reinhardt, Lucio, and Wrecking Ball. There is no real replacement hero for Sombra, so expect to see damage players go with other top meta picks like McCree and Mei.

Reaper

Reaper has seen a huge spike in popularity over the last couple of weeks, in no small part due to the Mei, McCree, and Widowmaker bans. He won’t be on the table this week, however. This probably won’t have a huge impact, as Reaper isn’t the most common pick when Mei and McCree are available.

Ana

Ana is a popular main healer pick in the OWL. Her ban means that Moira and Baptiste will see a lot more play. Teams may also use Lucio and Brigitte team compositions for more area of effect healing. Whether this hero ban will have a big impact on the games largely depends on the map and the teams playing.

D.Va

This is easily the biggest hero ban in Week 10. D.Va has been extremely popular throughout the 2020 OWL season, with a 57.9% pick rate over the last two weeks. Without D.Va, other tanks like Zarya and Sigma should get more opportunities to shine. Expect to see a lot more experimenting going on with tanks this week.

It should be exciting to see which team compositions the OWL teams come up with in Week 10 with these Hero Bans. Be sure to stay tuned for more information on the upcoming OWL matches!
