With the Overwatch League 2022 Summer Showdown LAN playoffs taking place in Canada for the first time, in Toronto, here are some reactions from players all over the league.

Of course, the Defiant team has stayed here throughout the 2022 season so far, but most players and team staff are experiencing the city for the first time.

Texan teams talk about Toronto

Starting with two players off the Dallas Fuel, both tank player Choi “Hanbin” Han-been and DPS player Kim “Edison” Tae-hoon love the food that Toronto has.

“The food here is great,” Hanbin said, keeping it simple.

“Yeah, the food here is really good,” Edison said, “and the weather here is very nice, very liveable.”

Edison wasn’t the only one who talked about the weather, as three members of the Houston Outlaws also attested to.

“This place is basically heaven for me because of all the Korean food options,” support player Mun “Lastro” Jung-won said. He was a bit more familiar with the city than his teammates; Lastro is a former member of the Toronto Defiant.

“I really, really like Toronto,” Dante “Danteh” Cruz said. “It’s not too overcrowded but there’s a lot to do, a lot of food to try.”

To end off Houston’s opinions of Toronto, manager Kim “Bischu” Hyung-seok spoke up about returning to a city.

“We live in a more suburban area in Houston,” Bischu said, “so it’s nice going back to the city.”

Spitfire and Shock speak on trip to Canada

As for the European superteam that is the London Spitfire, they also got to experience Toronto with this LAN. After their win over the Defiant, Hadi “Hadi” Bleinagel gave his opinion of the city in his time there.

“It’s a beautiful city, and the overall vibe is nice,” Hadi said. “Both Hawaii and Toronto have their own vibes, both amazing in their own way.”

Hawaii was the only other LAN the Spitfire made it to this season, but Hadi loved his time in both LAN settings.

As for the San Francisco Shock, after winning their match against the Vancouver Titans, both Colin “Coluge” Arai and Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun echoed the sentiments from others earlier in the day.

“I like this city,” Proper said, “it has good weather and its pretty.”

ChiYo considers spending more time in Toronto

In the end, Dallas Fuel support player Han “ChiYo” Hyeon-seok made one of the more funny but appreciative comments about Toronto at the Summer Showdown.

“It’s a really nice city, the weather is nice, there’s a lot of things to see and it’s pretty,” ChiYo said. “The country is so nice too, and that feeling has made me think about staying here sometimes over South Korea, but I have to focus on the Summer Showdown.”
