In the middle of the Winter Wonderland event, the Overwatch 2 team has released the Gingerbread Bastion bundle, with a legendary skin and weapon charm, for one Overwatch Coin. This means that anyone who has at least one coin from completing challenges or from past purchases can get this bundle. This brought a lot of reactions from fans, happy to see an almost-free bundle but still annoyed over other bundle prices and skin prices.

The Gingerbread bundle available for a limited time

Now, this bundle is tied to the Winter Wonderland event, only available for a limited time. To get this Gingerbread Bastion skin and the Candy Cane weapon charm, log into Overwatch 2 in between Dec. 20, 2022 and Jan. 2, 2023.

Go into the shop, and one of the first bundles should be the Gingerbread bundle. You need one Overwatch Coin to get the bundle, making it essentially free.

How to get Overwatch Coins

Overwatch Coins are the in-game currency in Overwatch 2, which can be collected multiple ways. The main two ways are to either buy them straight from the shop, or to earn them from in-game challenges.

For example, if you complete four weekly challenges, you get 30 Overwatch Coins. If you complete 8 and 11 weekly challenges, you get more coins. These don’t add up to too much right now for in-store purchases, but with this bundle needing only one coin, just complete four weekly challenges to unlock the bundle.

Fans are both happy and frustrated

The reaction to this bundle is mixed, with fans agreeing on what makes it good and bad. Ever since Overwatch 2 was released, the shop has released expensive skin bundles for fans to purchase. Players can easily ignore them, as they are purely cosmetic, but for fans wanting that addition, it’s a pretty penny. Plus, even with fans bringing that issue up, the team hasn’t changed much for skin prices from Season 1 to Season 2.

So, with this bundle being one coin, it’s free but also not free. You need to complete at least four weekly challenges to get the coins needed, but it also doesn’t take from your coins at all when collected. This is a good sign for the future if the team continues to release skin bundles like this, but the criticism will remain until most bundles are made more affordable.
