OpTic Texas player Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal will rejoin the Call of Duty League roster this week for practice and play after recovering from a thumb injury sustained in May, head coach Ray “Rambo” Lussier announced late Tuesday.

Since the Call of Duty League’s Pro-Am Classic back in May, OpTic Texas have been a man down. ILLeY, one of the best players in the Call of Duty League, has been sidelined since then with a thumb injury. The OpTic Texas member tried to give it a go at the Pro-Am but was only able to play a single match. Apparently, his injury became too much to handle, leading to substitute Jordon “General” General stepping in.

During the Major III qualifiers and tournament, OpTic signed former Challenger player Byron “Prolute” Vera to the starting roster to replace iLLeY for the time being.

Texas started off the qualifiers hot and went into Major III with high hopes. However, iLLeY was sorely missed on LAN, and OpTic failed to make any noise at the tournament. They finished in sixth place without any impressive results. After Major III was over, it was a toss-up whether or not Prolute would remain on the starting roster. Then, Rambo provided an update during a Q&A on his Twitch stream and explained the progress iLLeY has made.

“iLLeY is scheduled to start practicing and playing again on Wednesday,” Rambo said. “The doctor told him a week last time after he had his procedure. Tomorrow is when he’s supposed to try on the sticks again.”

The current hope is that iLLeY’s injury has healed enough to where he can play out the remainder of the season. OpTic Texas have already clinched their spot at CDL Champs, so the team has the Major IV qualifiers, Major IV tournament and Champs to round out the 2022 season.
