The run is still alive, against all odds, for the New York Subliners. While the Subliners have only lost one match all throughout Major IV, they needed to beat the Florida Mutineers today to even stand a chance at making CDL Champs; and that they did. New York survived another bout with destiny today against the Mutineers, sweeping them in 3-0 fashion. With their win, the Subliners have greatly improved their odds of making the final event of 2022. The final spot at Champs is between either New York or Florida, with the latter still holding a slight advantage.

As of right now, Florida still holds a 10-point lead over NYSL in the standings. This does mean the Subliners still need to make a deep run at Major IV, but they’ve put themselves in a terrific spot to do so. They advanced to the winner’s grand finals to face off against the LA Thieves, who are looking unstoppable so far at Major IV. As for the Mutineers, they drop to the loser’s bracket and will have to play Atlanta FaZe to continue in the tournament. New York still has two more chances to win a series while the Mutineers cannot lose again, or else they’re out at Major IV and leave their fate up to chance.

New York Subliners drown out the Mutineers

The Subliners absolutely showed out in front of the home crowd in Brooklyn, New York. They defeated the Minnesota ROKKR in a reverse sweep on Thursday and now sweep through Florida to make it to championship Sunday; they’ve done all they can to make a nearly impossible run to Champs seem possible. Unfortunately for the Subliner faithful, they’ll need a little more luck and a couple more wins to complete the run.

Even if Florida loses their match to Atlanta FaZe later tonight, New York still needs to make it to the grand finals to qualify for Champs. If they lose against the LA Thieves and whoever they play in the loser’s bracket finals, they will miss out on Champs by 10 points. It’s certainly a lot of pressure, but with their home crowd behind them and the combined power of Ian “Crimsix” Porter on the stage and Crimseven in the crowd, the Subliners just might pull off the impossible.
