The Pokémon Company shared a handful of announcements during the opening ceremony of the 2022 Pokémon World Championships. The biggest among them was the fact that a brand new map will soon be making its way into Pokémon UNITE.
The new Pokémon UNITE map, Theia Sky Ruins, has a similar layout to the game’s main arena, Remoat Stadium. As a result, it is possible that it will be available in the game’s Ranked and Standard Battles, rather than being exclusive to Quick Battles.

Theia Sky Ruins has several Magnemite watching on the sidelines, along with a number of wild Pokémon that players will be able to battle on the stage itself. These wild Pokémon include Baltoy, Bunnelby, Escavalier, Accelgor, and Xatu.
In addition, Rayquaza will replace Zapdos as the endgame boss Pokémon on this map. However, The Pokémon Company has not confirmed which Pokémon will replace Rotom and Drednaw as the top and bottom lane mini-bosses.
New Pokémon UNITE map and other announcements
The World Championships opening ceremony also included a few other announcements alongside the new Pokémon UNITE map. Pokémon GO players around the world will get to battle against teams that competitors used to qualify for Worlds. In addition, players can complete raids, field research or timed research to catch a specially-dressed Worlds Pikachu.

Anime star Ash Ketchum will soon join Pokémon Masters EX alongside his iconic Pikachu. Players can get this Master Sync Pair from August 27 at 11 a.m. PT to October 16 at 10:59 p.m. In addition, the previously-revealed Trainer Lodge will come to Pokémon Masters EX beginning on August 24 at 11 p.m.
Finally, The Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara confirmed that the biggest announcements are still yet to come. During the World Championships closing ceremony on Sunday, The Pokémon Company will share more news about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and the trading card game.
