When the PC beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer began this past weekend, data miners were finally able to dig into the game files and uncover some new information.

This has become a common practice for any PC game, and the information found through the files usually ends up coming to fruition. Still, fans should take any leak with a pinch of salt, as the developers can make changes on the fly before a piece of content is released to the public. The Marina Bay Grand Prix map in MW2 is a prime example of this.

In the latest round of Call of Duty leaks, data miners were able to find evidence of several new game modes apparently coming to Modern Warfare 2. As of right now, these leaks consist of a few images that some data miners were able to gather. These images come from the PC game files of MW2, but also through data miners actually gaining access to new content themselves inside of the beta. Basically, data miners were able to maneuver the beta to actually see this content in-game.

What new game modes are coming to Modern Warfare 2?

The leaks mostly hone in on upcoming game modes for MW2. The leaked list of game modes that data miners were able to see consists of the following:

  • Capture the Flag
  • Infected
  • Gun Game
  • Verdansk (Day and Night)

The first three game modes were nearly a shoo-in to arrive in MW2, with Capture the Flag already being confirmed by several sources. Infected and Gun Game are two popular party modes that would fit perfectly in Modern Warfare 2.

As for Verdansk Day and Night, we’re not sure what this refers to as of yet. Some have speculated that Infinity Ward will take sections of the old Verdansk map and make individual maps out of them. This would likely be for Ground War, and could feature both a Day and Night version. This is purely speculation, as all we know is that images of Verdansk Day and Night were found in the game files.

We should hear more about some of these leaked game modes before or shortly after MW2 releases on Oct. 28.
