While a large portion of the gaming community might be playing Valorant now, Apex Legends is still pumping out content for its player base. Today, Respawn Entertainment introduced a new patch that adds the highly-anticipated Old Ways lore event. Centered around Bloodhound, this event adds a new Town Takeover, tons of cosmetics, and the deadly Prowlers.

However, that’s not all this update brought to Apex Legends. Respawn also decided to change up the meta quite heavily with varying buffs and nerfs. Most notably, Revenant and Lifeline are now more viable than they were before. Let’s take a look at the patch notes from today’s update.

The Old Ways lore event

Much like the recent System Override event, Old Ways has a plethora of event-specific cosmetics. You can earn a few of those items simply by playing Apex Legends. However, for a majority of them, you’ll have to cough up some money.

Besides the cosmetics, there’s now a permanent Duos and Kings Canyon playlist. Respawn decided to bring back the Season 2 version of Kings Canyon as well as Kings Canyon After Dark. So, in total, there are three maps you can play in Apex Legends. To learn more about the Old Ways event, you can visit EA’s website for the full patch notes.

Meta changes in the new Apex patch

As with most major updates, Respawn has balanced some aspects of the game. However, this time around, the developers focused more on legends than weapons. Revenant received a pretty substantial buff for both his tactical and ultimate ability. In regards to the latter of those, respawning at the Death Totem now spawns you with 50 health rather than 1. Respawn also increased Revenant’s Silence grenade stack to two.

For Lifeline, she can now open up a secret compartment on the new blue supply bins. These bins can be found in place of standard red bins but will hold more loot if you’re playing as Lifeline. However, the blue bins will not hold weapons. They have only meds, attachments, etc.

Lifeline Apex Legends

One final change Respawn implemented has to do with Evo Shields. The damage to increase your shield level has been reduced, which was a big request from the Apex Legends community. Here’s how the new system breaks down.

  • Blue Armor damage requirement reduced from 100 -> 75
  • Purple Armor damage requirement reduced from 300 -> 150
  • Red Armor damage requirement reduced from 500 -> 400
