Season 1 of Call of Duty: Vanguard is fully underway, with roughly 37 days until Season 2 arrives. As of Monday, players are pretty much in the dark on everything that’s coming with the new season. While Ranked Play might release with the season, that’s almost all of the information currently leaked for the next installment of Vanguard.

However, that might have changed over the weekend, as one player randomly saw a never-before-seen map appear in Vanguard multiplayer.

This map showed up in the pre-game lobby of a multiplayer match. It had a name, background and was seemingly firmly in the code of the game. There have been no leaks surrounding this map, so players aren’t sure what to make of it. Of course, the most logical jump is that this is one of the maps arriving with Season 2 in just over a month.

Unreleased Vanguard map shows up in multiplayer

The unreleased map was first brought to the public eye by a Reddit user, who posted a video of what they saw to the Vanguard subreddit.

Through some random glitch in the matrix I have discovered a map called Casablanca

The map that showed up for the Reddit user is named “Casablanca” after they queued for a Blitz Kill Confirmed match. The background for the map’s box at the bottom of the screen is split up into different sections. One section looks snowy while another has some tanks in a desert. This is likely because the developers haven’t finished implementing the unreleased map into the game.

Of course, another explanation for Casablanca’s strange appearance is that it’s simply leftover code from an early build of Vanguard. This could explain why the map doesn’t have a singular background behind it.

The Casablanca locale does make sense for Vanguard, though, as the location played a role in World War II. It’s located in Morocco, and a conference to plan the Allied attack in Europe was held there during the war.

Other players have reported seeing the map appear in-game but no one has been able to load into it. Players are kicked from the lobby before they have a chance. As Season 2 draws closer, it’s possible leaks start to surface around the Casablanca map if it is indeed planned for Vanguard.
