According to in-game files, old POIs won’t be the only map-changing element in Fortnite Season X. When the season began, we got our first glimpse at the Season 4 meteor hanging over Dusty Divot. It was only a matter of time before this frozen rock started moving, but it will also come with a surprise component.

Along with the meteor, the snow biome will likewise undergo some changes during Season X. Let’s go over these changes and how they could play out over the course of the season.

The Fortnite meteor is on the move

Logic told us that the frozen-in-time meteor wouldn’t stay frozen forever. Nothing stays put on the Fortnite map and this is evident with this new leak. Thanks to Fortnite leaker @HYPEX, we have solid intel about possible meteor movement in the next update (v10.01).

Keep in mind — these are just leaks. However, HYPEX has a very good track record with this kind of information. According to him, this data was found in the game files and he put it all together in a graphic.

In the image above, we can see the meteor is located farther north than where it started. Now situated over Factories, there’s no intel on whether or not the meteor is progressing down to the ground or staying at the same height.

In addition to moving, the meteor now has a force field around it. Currently, there’s no knowledge of what this force field will do. It could work similarly to the low gravity zones that the Cube caused or simply make the area impenetrable. Though, the ladder seems unlikely.

According to HYPEX, this adjustment could come as soon as the v10.01 update next week. However, Epic Games could decide to hold off for another week.

Snow biome finally melting?

The second part of this leak surrounds the snow biome. Largely unchanged since Season 6, the biome isn’t wildly popular among players. A majority of the community would much rather see the return of the grassy hills that once inhabited the southwestern part of the map.

Well, it appears players may be getting their wish according to HYPEX’s graphic.

The snow biome looks to be slowly melting.

There is a noticeable difference in some areas of the snow biome. Hills are starting to melt and not have snow covering anymore. While this could signal a couple of different things, it most likely is in preparation for old POIs to make their return. With locations like Greasy Grove and Flush Factory set to come back, the snow is no longer needed.

Something else to keep an eye on in the snow biome is a weird object that HYPEX points out. From the graphic, we can’t really make out what this object could be. We’ll just have to wait and see if the v10.01 update brings this item to the map.
