With July coming to an end, the season of new Call of Duty information is nearly upon us. While Activision revealed the Modern Warfare II campaign earlier this summer and leaks are still coming through, fans are wondering when the official multiplayer reveal will take place. This is usually what most fans are looking toward, as a majority of players care about multiplayer more than anything else. Although original leaks suggested that a multiplayer reveal could arrive in August, a report from Tom Henderson today suggests that the reveal is further away than that.

Tom Henderson has been a reliable leaker with the Call of Duty scene, among others, for quite some time. His reports are usually reliable; he’s rarely been incorrect, and he typically gets information from multiple sources before publishing. So while fans should still take the report with a grain of salt, they should also know the past accuracy of Henderson’s information.

When are the MWII multiplayer reveal and beta dropping?

Putting that aside, Henderson is claiming that a Modern Warfare II multiplayer reveal is coming in September. There’s no exact date as of yet, but the multiplayer reveal would arrive before the MWII beta. This timeline matches up with what Activision has done previously; Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer reveal was on September 9, 2020, while Vanguard’s multiplayer reveal came September 7, 2021. Those reveals were both firmly in the middle of the week, so MWII’s multiplayer reveal could potentially drop around September 6-8, if following past trends.

Henderson also claims that the multiplayer beta will show up around mid-September. This timeline would give fans around a week to digest the multiplayer reveal before diving into the mode themselves. He then claimed that after the beta takes place, a large marketing campaign for MWII will begin.

Currently, there’s no word on whether or not a multiplayer alpha is planned for MWII. Previous leaks have indicated that an alpha could center around MWII’s Gunfight mode, as it did in Modern Warfare 2019. However, that has not been confirmed by any official sources or high-profile insiders.
