Fortnite and G2 Esports, together with paysafecard, are breaking new ground with the first ever interactive talent show produced by an esports organization. It’s called Making the Squad.

G2 Esports has announced that the show will allow Fortnite enthusiasts and influencers to compete for a chance at one of four full-time streaming contracts with the company. This will give them access to the global audience in G2 Esports’ #G2ARMY.

From now until Nov. 15

The contest has already begun, and runs until Nov. 15. Fans can upload a highlight reel of their Fortnite gameplay and a self-recorded video explaining why they want to join G2 Esports to the company’s website.

The top eight will be invited to Berlin

The top 20 semi-finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges. This panel will be led by Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez, CEO of G2 Esports. Those 20 finalists will compete in IRL and in-game challenges. These challenges are going to be all over social media, with plenty of streams and videos to watch. Once the top eight participants are chosen, they will be invited to Berlin for the final competition. That’s where the final four will be awarded full-time contracts as G2 Esports’ new Fortnite content team.

Making the Squad, the first event of its kind

Making the Squad is an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for amateur content producers and gamers to make it big as full-time pro-gamers. It’s also a chance for Fortnite fans to enjoy a kind of content that esports has never had before. We’ve seen singers and celebrities get discovered and rise out of talent shows like this in the past. Seeing it happen in esports, though, is something entirely new. I’m not sure what it’s going to be like, but I’m excited to find out how it turns out, and to see what the top 20 participants are like. If nothing else, it sounds like a great way to find some new people to watch on Twitch when I’ve got some downtime.
