Team Lime Soda and Ghost are heading to the 2019 World Championships in Los Angeles
After a thrilling weekend, Nintendo’s Australasian Open has come to a close. The Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate grand finals took place at Supernova in Melbourne. The top players across Australia and New Zealand for these games came together to show their skills. Lime Soda, the younglings, defeated Morning Sun in the Splatoon 2 finals. It was a tight match, with a 5-4 victory. Aussie player Ghost was crowned champion for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Splatoon 2 Grand Final
Lime Soda showed age does not necessarily equal skill. The youngest of the Splatoon teams, they came back from four games down to defeat Morning Sun. It was a heart-stopping grand final that could have gone either way. Both teams received special jerseys and shiny trophies for making it to the final.
The winners not only earn the Championship title, but have gained a spot to represent ANZ at the Splatoon 2 2019 World Championships on June 8 in Los Angeles. They’ll be playing against the top teams from the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Grand Final
The Smash Bros. Grand Final was another story. Eight players battled for the Championship, with the top four securing a ticket to the 2019 World Championships. Aussie player Ghost breezed through the quarter and semifinals. Ghost came up against SebPro101 in the finals and claimed victory. With the finals decided, the battle was on for third place. Ichigo overpowered PillowTalk in an exciting 3-0 result.
Like the Splatoon players, the Smash Bros. gamers also received shiny trophies. All four of these players will be representing ANZ at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 2019 World Championships on June 8 in LA.
