Yoppa dies at 23 due to COVID-19

Yoppa was a promising League of Legends player from Serbia and was the first Serbian player to hit Challenger tier on the Europe West server. He played for several teams during his time as a professional player including Vitality.Bee and Schalke 04 Evolution.

With Vitality.Bee he ended 6th in the LFL in 2020. Yoppa then moved over to Schalke 04 Evolution to play in both EU Masters and the Prime League Pro Division. Schalke 04 Evolution ended 3rd in the 2020 Spring Playoffs, and they made it into the EU Masters Spring 2021 main event. However, their run ended short as they did not make it into playoffs, falling in the round-robin stage of the event. Yoppa’s final stint for Schalke 04 evolution was a Prime League Pro Division 2021 Summer where they once again fell in the round-robin stage.

The League of Legends community have been outspoken in remembering Yoppa’s legacy and offering their condolences. James “Mac” MacCormack, the head coach of MAD Lions’ LEC team expressed his condolences to Yoppa’s family and friends.

“Tragic news to all of us at MAD, and all those who knew and played with Yoppa,” said Mac on Twitter “My heart goes out to his family and friends, I cannot even begin to imagine their grief at losing him at such a young age. Rest in Peace”

Other players have also expressed their sadness regarding Yoppa’s death. Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek, the jungler for Team Vitality in the LEC, remembered the memories that they shared when playing in the Spanish League.

“I honestly don’t know what to say,” said Selfmade, retweeting Esports Balkan League’s original report on Twitter. “We spent so much time having fun together back in the LVP days I wish I could go back in time. Rest in peace Pavle.”

There are no further details regarding Yoppa’s death, and most are respecting his family’s privacy.
