After a great group stage, the two teams that are advancing to the Overwatch World Cup Finals are South Korea and Finland.

Both teams were looking great throughout the three days, with South Korea showing off their brilliance against every team. Finland is also looking really strong, with tank main Joona “Fragi” Laine and DPS Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin rising up to the occasion. The juggernauts of Overwatch have done it again, going a perfect 5-0 through the group stage. They would make every team seem easy, with great coordination and execution. The five-man combo of the New York Excelsior were up to their old tricks again. Overwatch League MVP Seong-Hyun “Jjonak” Kim never missed a beat with his patented Zenyatta. Also, Philadelphia Fusion’s Jae-Hyeok “Carpe” Lee was also doing work, with some key performances for the team. However, the only team they would have problems with was Finland. They would actually lose their first ever games in Overwatch World Cup history against them. However, South Korea would eventually win the series. It goes to show that they still have a bit of work to do, but right now, they are the strongest team in the tournament.

Finland is looking great heading into the Overwatch World Cup Finals. Houston Outlaws’ star DPS player Jiri “LiNkzr” Masalin was a beast throughout their five games, especially in their match against Russia. He would provide his team with some great picks that would help push the advantage for the Finnish. Also, that Russia game was crucial, as was the deciding match for the second spot.
The Finns are in a great spot to make a deep push for the Finals. Also, they were able to take two maps off of South Korea, which has never been done before. Even though they couldn’t take the game, taking maps off the best team in the world is something to be proud of. Additionally, their games were some of the best Overwatch played in some time. You should definitely check the games out if you can. Watch out world, Finland is coming for the top.
Russia

Unfortunately for Russia, they would lose to Finland in a hotly contested matchup. That game would end up being the deciding game that would push them out of the World Cup Finals. However, they did show some great potential in the group stages. Overwatch pros Stanislav “Mistakes” Danilov and George “ShaDowBurn” Gushcha were the outstanding members of the team. Their performances would straight carry some games for the Russians. This tournament was good experience for Danilov and Gushcha, and hopefully they will bring this to the second season of the Overwatch League.
Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong

The teams from the Contenders PAC weren’t able to perform too well at the World Cup this year. Japan was the only team who was able to make a mark, which wasn’t much at all. They would only take wins from the other bottom tier teams in the group stage. Also, Taiwan and Hong Kong were not able to handle the competition at all. Hong Kong would actually lose every single game in the tournament, going a perfect 0-20 map score. Taiwan would only take one game too, against Hong Kong. Therefore, it’s back to the drawing board for the Pacific. Hopefully, they took something out of this experience to better themselves for the future.
