With a player base of more than 20 million players, MultiVersus is already the second most-played platform fighter of all time, only behind Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Since Smash Ultimate is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, it makes sense that there would also be a large audience for MultiVersus on that console.

As it turns out, messages from game director Tony Huynh can provide some valuable insights about MultiVersus’ future platforms. Here’s everything players need to know about whether MultiVersus will make its way to the Nintendo Switch.

Is MultiVersus on Nintendo Switch?

MultiVersus launched on a variety of platforms, including PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles. In addition, leaks have suggested that many in-game assets are already in place for a mobile version of the game. However, MultiVersus is not currently available on the Nintendo Switch.

Nevertheless, there’s reason to believe that a Switch port could eventually come in the future. In a tweet from January of 2022, Huynh expressed his personal desire to bring the game to Switch. So, while it may take some time, Nintendo fans have good reason to believe that MultiVersus could eventually be playable on their preferred console.

When to expect a Switch port

Unfortunately for Nintendo Switch owners, it’s unclear when a Switch port of MultiVersus could come. In December of 2021, Huynh tweeted that Player First Games’ limited resources prohibited them from making the game compatible with the Switch at launch, even though the developers want the game to be available to as many people as possible.

At the moment, it doesn’t appear that a Switch port is at the top of the priority list for Player First Games. Nevertheless, dataminers have found that the Switch is already listed as a platform players can log into to play in the game’s files, along with Android and iOS. So, at the very least, it seems that Player First Games has already begun taking steps to make the Switch port a reality.
