Old rivals face off in a curtain raiser match at IEM Sydney 2019.
Intel Extreme Masters is the longest-running global pro gaming circuit in the world. Australia has been lucky enough to host IEM in Sydney for the past two years. IEM Sydney 2018 was a huge success. Now it’s back and better than ever. IEM Sydney 2019 marks the return of some old rivals with The Caches. Team Australia and Team UK will battle it out for national pride in CS:GO. Last year, both teams put on a similar show for fans at IEM Sydney. The teams consist of current and veteran Australian and English CS:GO players.
Team Australia has won the previous two meetings. At last year’s IEM Sydney, Team Australia made an epic comeback to snatch the series win 16-15. Captain Chad “Spunj” Burchill will be looking to take the win once again. The captain of Team UK is yet to be decided. The Caches match will take place on the Sunday before the CS:GO Grand Final match.

A further 13.5 million unique viewers tuned in online. IEM Sydney still holds the record for the highest viewership for any esports competition held in Australia. IEM Sydney 2019 will be the 75th IEM since the series started back in 2006.
