Just like the normal Wizarding World, Hogwarts Legacy has a full day and night cycle that develops around the player as they are exploring the castle or the surrounding map. You might not even notice that the day has turned to night if you’re focused on exploration or locked up inside the castle trying to get back to your common room. Nevertheless, the day and night cycle actually plays a large part in Hogwarts Legacy, which has led players to ask how they can skip time.

There are certain quests or gameplay elements in Hogwarts Legacy that require a specific time of day. For example, the Demiguise Moon statues you need to collect for Gladwin Moon can only be picked up at nighttime. If you don’t know how to wait/skip time, then you could be standing next to a Demiguise statue for hours. Or, you could be at a quest marker ready to start or continue your mission, but the time of day needs to be different. Any way you spin it, knowing how to skip time is invaluable.

The process of skipping time is actually quite simple in Hogwarts Legacy. First, you need to open your map, which can be done by going to your Field Guide, and then selecting the map option in the top right of the dial. When your map opens up, look in the bottom right corner of the screen. You will see an option that says “Wait” and then a button next to it. It will be to the left of “Change Map” and to the right of “Rotate.”

All you need to do is press that button next to “Wait” and you will be prompted to confirm that you want to switch the time from day to night or vice versa. When you confirm, the time of day will switch, and your character will be in the same spot you left them. Some elements of the world might change around you, such as new characters walking the halls or certain quests being unavailable. More specifically, some side quests can only be started during the day, as students and other characters go to sleep at night.

Regardless, you can now grab that Demiguise Moon statue, start a quest, or simply continue on with the game, just at a different time.
