Earlier this week, COD Mobile Season 7: New Vision City was revealed to the world. The season’s theme is centered around a collaboration with the Netflix series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. The cosmetics, skins, and Operators are futuristic-themed with a cyberpunk vibe as well, exactly like the show. While the season’s gameplay content is not directly themed to the cyberpunk aesthetic, there are some futuristic items coming with Season 7. One of these items is the new weapon coming to COD Mobile, which is called the Switchblade X9 submachine gun.

The Switchblade originates from Black Ops 4, and it’s certainly unlike any other weapon currently in the game. The SMG has a lower damage range but it has a high fire rate to compensate for that. It also has a suitcase-like mechanism that makes the exterior of the weapon extremely unique. It’s unclear exactly how COD Mobile plans to balance the Switchblade’s unique features, but fans should expect it to be powerful at least at the very start of Season 7.

Below, fans can see precisely how to unlock the Switchblade X9 SMG in COD Mobile.

Unlocking the Switchblade X9 in COD Mobile

As COD Mobile fans will know, the Switchblade X9 will arrive on the new season’s Battle Pass. The Switchblade can be unlocked by reaching tier 21. This tier is a part of the free version of the Battle Pass, so players won’t have to pay to unlock the new SMG. However, the premium version of the pass does feature dozens of additional cosmetics and other items.

Once players have reached tier 21 and unlocked the Switchblade X9, they will immediately get to use it in-game and begin leveling it up to equip new attachments. Players can start working towards unlocking the new weapon when COD Mobile Season 7: New Vision City arrives on Aug. 3 at 8 p.m. ET.
