The attachment system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer has been changed in more ways than one. The largest change that developer Infinity Ward made is making some attachments only unlockable through certain weapons. Every weapon doesn’t have the ability to unlock every attachment in the game anymore. Instead, players need to use all of the weapons in multiplayer to unlock the entire slate of attachments. However, there are some attachments in Modern Warfare 2, like the Slimline Pro optic, that don’t appear to be unlockable through a specific weapon.

What makes the Slimline Pro optic so special is that it’s the classic red dot sight that’s become so popular over the last few years. It’s a thin red dot sight with a clear picture when players aim down sights with their gun; it’s essentially the Slate Reflector that was prevalent in Vanguard. However, when players go to view the attachment in the Gunsmith, they’re met with a confusing description. The Slimline Pro optic has no weapon associated with it like most other attachments. So, how can players go about unlocking the optic?

Unlocking the Slimline Pro Optic in Modern Warfare 2

Unfortunately for fans of the classic red dot sight in Call of Duty, the Slimline Pro optic is not currently unlockable in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. It’s unclear if this is a bug or intentional, but this specific optic cannot be unlocked in multiplayer. While players can use the attachment in custom games, they cannot equip it in public matches.

The current running theory is that the Slimline Pro optic will be unlocked through a weapon arriving in Season 1 on Nov. 16. That would be one of the only explanations outside of this being a bug with the attachment. Infinity Ward has not yet commented on this potential issue, and it could be a week or two before fans hear an official answer. Until then, players are stuck with sights like the Cronen Mini Red Dot instead of the Slimline Pro optic.
