Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Season 6 is arriving on Thursday, Oct. 7 and there are five new weapons coming with it, including three standard class weapons, the Grav, .410 Ironhide and LAPA SMG. The first two guns are arriving with the launch of Call of Duty Warzone and Cold War Season 6, while the LAPA SMG is releasing at a later date.

While there’s no confirmed release date for the LAPA, players are still curious how to unlock it in Warzone and Cold War. It’s a compact submachine gun that looks like an enjoyable weapon to use in close-range gunfights. For players wanting to test it out, they’ll have to wait a bit but the process to unlock it is simpler than its other Season 6 counterparts.

Unlocking the LAPA SMG in Call of Duty Warzone and Cold War

Since the LAPA SMG won’t release alongside the start of Call of Duty Warzone and Cold War Season 6, it won’t be part of the Battle Pass. The Grav and .410 Ironhide will, but not the LAPA. Instead, it will become available through an in-game challenge. The challenge will be accessed through both Warzone and Cold War multiplayer.

The challenge itself is going to be focused on Season 6’s “The Haunting” event. This event will kick off sometime around the middle or end of October in time for Halloween. Just like the recent Numbers event, where players unlocked the Sai melee weapon, the LAPA will be up for grabs in the event.

Players will have to complete a challenge specific to The Haunting if they don’t want to spend any money for the LAPA. However, they can most likely also buy a Store Bundle containing the LAPA in exchange for some COD Points. This is a costly but quick and easy route to obtaining the weapon and a fancy blueprint as well.

For melee weapon fans, the Hammer & Sickle that’s also arriving in mid-Season 6 will likely be available through The Haunting event as well. There’s no confirmed release date for the event but players shouldn’t have to wait too long into October. Warzone and Cold War Season 5 go live at 12 a.m. ET on Oct. 7.
