There are three skill trees in Spider-Man 2 and every skill on the tree is unlocked with a certain number of Skill Points. One of the trees is specifically for Peter Parker, one is for Miles Morales, and the other is a shared tree that has skills for both heroes.

From the start of Spider-Man 2, the game introduces you to its mechanics and how to use all of Spider-Man’s new gadgets and abilities. However, if you click on the D-Pad at the start of the game, you might notice there is no way to see your skill trees. This can be especially frustrating if you bought the Digital Deluxe Edition of Spider-Man 2 for those five free Skill Points.

Here’s exactly when you unlock the skills tab and how to use your Skill Points in Spider-Man 2.

If you don’t see the skills tab at the start of the game, don’t panic. The tab doesn’t become unlocked until after you reach level two and unlock your first Skill Point. This applies to those who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition as well, the only difference being those players have six Skill Points to spend right away instead of just one.

When you reach level two, you can press on the D-Pad and scroll over the skills tab at the top of the screen. Here, you can see all three skill trees available to you in Spider-Man 2. You can scroll through the different skill trees by pressing R2. You know what skill tree you’re on by looking in the bottom-left corner and seeing whose face appears.

The skill trees for each hero are completely different, but you don’t get to spend a Skill Point for each tree when you level up. You get one Skill Point to use across all three trees, so be careful when spending them and take your time deciding what skill to unlock.

I recommend using your early Skill Points on the shared tree, as this allows you to unlock movement mechanics that can be used for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Then, as the story goes along, you can start to unlock skills for each of the individual heroes.

You unlock Skill Points by leveling up, completing certain missions, and finishing specific objectives in-game. However, the most reliable and consistent method is leveling up, which just takes playtime.
