While millions of players across the globe are enjoying their time in Paldea, some consumers cannot say the same thing. For one reason or another, some players might want to refund their copy of either Pokémon Scarlet or Violet. Whether it’s because of the vast technical difficulties the game has experienced or players simply not liking the game, refunds have been on the minds of some Pokémon enthusiasts.

In terms of refunding your game, you first need to discern what kind of copy you have. If you bought a physical copy of either Pokémon Scarlet or Violet through a retail store, either in-person or online, then the refund process needs to go through that store. If you bought your copy in person, simply returning to the store with your copy and receipt should do the trick (barring any damage to the copy). If you purchased the copy online, the process will be a little different depending on what store you went through. For example, Amazon allows you to visit a few select retail stores to return any purchases.

However, a majority of players that want to refund their copy of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet likely bought the game digitally through the Nintendo Switch eShop. In that case, the refund process gets much more complex.

In short, you can’t simply return your copy of any Switch game if you bought it digitally. The process does not work like Steam, for example, where you can refund the game as long as you meet a few requirements.

According to the official Nintendo Switch guidelines, you cannot refund a digitally-bought game simply because you didn’t like it or have another problem with it. However, some players have been able to get refunded for their purchase by talking to Nintendo Switch Customer Support. If you want to try this method, you can visit the Customer Support page, start chatting with a representative and explain your dilemma. You can go into detail about your problems with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and why you want to refund your copy.

Keep in mind, this is not guaranteed to work. Although, players have reported getting a refund after chatting with Customer Support.

Aside from that shaky method, you will not find another way to refund Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. So you might be stuck roaming around Paldea for a while in order to make your $60 purchase worth it.
