Riot revealed more information on Thursday about how to qualify upcoming Legends of Runeterra World Championship 2022. The second Legends of Runeterra World Championship will take place later this year with the best players in the game.

The World Championship will be an online-only event, open to players in countries where the game has been officially released. The inaugural LoR World Championship took place last year with 16 participants competing for a $200,000 prize pool. With the expansion of the game since 2021, players can expect a more competitive and better tournament.

How to get a Legends of Runeterra World Championship invite

All players can be eligible for LoR Worlds invite through the A Curious Journey Ranked season, as well as three other seasons that will occur between May and October.

The LoR World qualifying seasons dates are as follows:

  • A Curious Journey (Feb. 16 to May 25)
  • May 25 to July 19
  • July 20 to Aug. 30
  • Aug. 31 to Oct. 11

Throughout the different seasons, players can qualify through ranked points, seasonal tournament performance and placement. Players can earn invites to the World Championship with a top four finish in the seasonal tournament.

Players in LoR obtain ranked points based on standings on their shard’s Ranked leaderboard before each Seasonal Tournament.

The A Curious Journey Seasonal Tournament takes place on May 7 with the Last Chance Gauntlet for players in the Americas and Asia-Pacific region. The open round for all regions begins on May 14 with playoffs on May 21.

The Legends of Runeterra World Championship will replace the Seasonal Tournament of the season running from Oct.12 to Dec.6. It will also contain separate events that involve a Regional Qualification Weekend, a top 16 group stage elimination round and top 8 finals round.

Additionally, Riot will reveal all the exact dates and times as well as the prize pool for the event soon. It will also release a Worlds balance patch a few weeks before the Regional Qualification begins.
