If you’re hopping into the Diablo 4 beta soon, here is a guide on how to decide which starting class is best for you. With the first three available in the closed beta and the last two available in the open beta, we have a good understanding of what each class provides.

Barbarians and Druids are the best tanks

To start, going through all the different classes, both Barbarians and Druids are the best option if you want to play a character that can take some hits. While Barbarians are the simpler class of the two, both classes have their best strengths fighting up close. The Barbarian class can use their Arsenal skill to hold multiple weapons and tear through enemies while taking hits.

On the Druid side, they have the ability to shapeshift into a strong animal and tear their enemies to shreds. If you want a tank with a little more challenge and flair, go for the Druid. But, if you want a fun and simple learning curve, go for the Barbarian when you hop into the beta.

Necromancer and Sorcerer are great damage options

If you’re more of a fan of ranged or high damage options from a Diablo 4 starting class, the Necromancer and Sorcerer are the best two options for you. To start, the Necromancer is one of the best classes if you want a lot of choices, considering all the potential benefits you can get. From healing to summoning allies from the corpses of your opponents, the Necromancer is unique and strong if played well.

On the other side, the Sorcerer is the mage class that most fantasy games have. Not only are they low health, but they can pump out some of the highest damage numbers in the game, especially towards crowds of enemies. Layer status effects on top of that, you have the best ranged class in the game.

Rogues are designed to be complex but rewarding

Last but not least, the Rogue class is the class designed for the player who either has a lot of experience in the Diablo franchise or seeks a challenge. Thanks to its both ranged and melee capabilities, the Rogue is the perfect class to master if you want large criticial hit damage and a little bit of everything. Those options include magic from imbued weapons, ranged hits from bows and crossbows and melee hits from daggers.

The toughest thing about playing Rogue is getting the hang of things, as going for Energy and playing around it for your skills is no easy task. But when done correctly, the Rogue can be very rewarding.
