After a long time of just shooting regular arrows in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you might want to change things up a bit. There’s only so many regular arrows I can take in one session! While you can always go with arrows of the fire variety, we also recommend some ice arrows in Tears of the Kingdom. These specialty arrows will freeze enemies and your surroundings, which can be quite useful in the heat of battle.

Freezing enemies is a great way for you to reset your mind and get ready for the next encounter. You can change your weapons, eat some food, or plan your next move all the while an enemy can’t move due to being frozen. If you want to take advantage of this mechanic in Tears of the Kingdom, then read our guide below on how to make ice arrows.

Making ice arrows in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Like the construction of fire arrows, you will need to take part in the fusing process to make ice arrows. Arrows can be fused with Sapphires in order to turn them into an ice arrow. To find Sapphires, you need to mine any ore deposits that are scattered around the map. These deposits may or may not contain Sapphires, so you’ll have to be patient and keep mining until you find some of the gems.

Once you find a Sapphire, you can follow the steps below to turn it into an ice arrow.

  • Equip your bow and then press “Up” on your D-Pad to attach an item
  • Scroll through your items until you find the Sapphire
  • Select the Sapphire and it will fuse with your arrow, making the tip frozen

With the ice arrow now equipped, any enemy you hit with it will become frozen for a brief time. They won’t stay frozen forever, though, so make sure you dispatch of them while you have the chance.
