Champions of Azeroth can now get the World of Warcraft Shadowlands expansion for free. Read on for a quick guide on how to access it and what to expect from the free copy.

WoW Shadowlands expansion and character boost

From Sept. 1-5, players can claim a copy of the expansion’s base edition. This free copy of Shadowlands includes a level 50 character boost via Battle.net on desktop.

As for eligibility, Battle.net accounts that don’t currently have the World of Warcraft Shadowlands expansion and had any expansion license in the past can get the freebies. Accounts that already have Shadowlands or don’t have a previous World of Warcraft expansion license attached to them aren’t eligible.

How to get World of Warcraft Shadowlands

To get the base edition of Shadowlands, a player must boot up the Battle.net desktop app and log in. Next, they should press the gift icon located on the top right of the app. The confirmation window then appears before the player can click the “Claim” button.

After launching World of Warcraft, the player can enjoy their free copy of the expansion plus the level 50 character boost.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight and more

With this free copy and character boost, players can enjoy the Shadowlands expansion ahead of World of Warcraft Dragonflight. Dragonflight is the next expansion that will be launching later this year.

For fans of World of Warcraft esports, they can also look forward to The Great Push Finals happening this weekend from Sept. 2-4. This upcoming tournament will showcase teams Ambition and Donuts & Disbear alongside Echo and Monka.

There’s also the Xy’mox’s Charity Cache and Solo Shuffle Showdown events. While the Xy’mox’s Charity Cache will help raise funds for two non-profit organizations, the Solo Shuffle Showdown will feature the skills of competitive World of Warcraft players.

The Xy’mox’s Charity Cache will run from Sept. 10-11 and the Solo Shuffle Showdown will go from Sept. 23-25.
