There is a full slate of weapons on display in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign. From the common guns like the M4 and Kastov-74u to the rarer weapons such as the .50 GS (Desert Eagle), players have access to a large portion of MW2’s weaponry. However, there is one secret weapon that many players might not even know exists. If players do know it exists, they might have questions regarding how to acquire it. We’re, of course, referring to the Crossbow in Modern Warfare 2, which can be acquired during the middle portion of the campaign.
The Crossbow is the one weapon in the campaign that can only be acquired in one way. It’s only available in one mission in one specific location. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as going to a certain location and picking the Crossbow up off the ground. Instead, players will need to open a safe to earn themselves the Crossbow for one of the tougher missions in the campaign.
We explain in full detail down below. Fair warning, there are minor spoilers regarding a certain mission of the campaign in this guide.
Getting the Crossbow in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign
The mission that players can acquire the Crossbow is called “Alone.” If you’ve played through the campaign, then you’ll absolutely remember this mission. If you haven’t, it occurs a bit after the halfway point of the campaign. Players need to complete the “Dark Water” mission to play through Alone, for reference.
During the Alone mission, players will try and make their way through the streets of Las Almas to get to Ghost. During this journey, players will have to craft items to take down enemies. As Ghost is telling players to cross the street and go into a tunnel to gain access to the church, players will want to look for a mechanic’s garage. This can be found on the far left side of the area players are in before they cross the street to get to the tunnel.
There is one enemy guarding the garage, so eliminate him and go through the cracked garage door. Inside the garage, you will see a desk with a computer on it and a safe right near it (to the left of the fridge and microwave). Look at the computer to find the combination for the safe, which is 37-60-80. Enter the code into the safe and you will be able to loot the Crossbow.
This weapon is perfect for stealthily taking out enemies in the Alone mission. You can keep it for the entire Alone mission, but you’ll have to part ways with it after that.
