As a show of appreciation to the community, the Overwatch 2 dev team are giving away a free Reaper legendary skin, a weapon charm and two double XP weekends to fans later in the year. In a recent blog post, the team explained that the issues involving the game’s launch was rough, but they’ve updated the game and will continue to improve on it. After mentioning an upcoming patch this week, the team revealed the free loot, coming out starting Oct. 25, 2022.

The free Reaper skin and weapon charm

To start, here is the free legendary Reaper skin, themed after pirates. Dubbed the Cursed Captain legendary skin, it fits the Halloween theme that Overwatch has consistently provided content for yearly.

Alongside that skin, the developers are also offering a free weapon charm, one of the new cosmetics in Overwatch 2. These are little items that dangle off of the weapons of all the heroes and can be accessed through the battle pass and shop. This time around, this weapon charm is a very recognizable item from both Overwatch games — the health pack.

These two items will be free for all fans who log in starting on Oct. 25 and will be no longer available when Season One ends.

Double XP weekends are on the way

In the same blog post, as a further showing of appreciation to the players, the team also confirmed double XP weekends in the near future. There isn’t a concrete release date as of yet, but they are on the way.

Ever since the original Overwatch lost a lot of new content to the development of Overwatch 2, double XP weekends essentially disappeared. This will be the first double XP time of Overwatch 2, and fans will be able to complete their battle passes and get Kiriko (or future items) twice as fast on those weekends.
