At some point during the main story of Hogwarts Legacy, you will receive a letter from the Herbology teacher, Professor Garlick. She will task you with her first Assignment, and the reward for completing those Assignment tasks will be a popular spell, Wingardium Leviosa. You will get Professor Garlick’s Assignment 1 right after you explore the Undercroft with Sebastian or unlock the Room of Requirement with Professor Weasley. Before you can learn Wingardium Leviosa, though, you need to go through two tasks for Professor Garlick. One of them is to acquire a Mandrake and use it on two enemies at once in Hogwarts Legacy.
A Mandrake is a root that has potent healing capabilities, but it’s also lethal when exposed to the outside world. In battle, you can use the Mandrake to disorient enemies for a brief period of time. This is exactly what you need to do with the Mandrake if you want to complete Professor Garlick’s Assignment. However, that’s not the hard part; the hard part is actually acquiring a Mandrake to use.

Getting a Mandrake in Hogwarts Legacy
While you are able to grow your own Mandrakes in a potting station in the Room of Requirement or the herbology greenhouse, you likely don’t have the necessary seeds for that yet. If you don’t, then you either need to buy Mandrake Seeds or a single Mandrake on its own. For either of these purchases, you can head to the Dogweed and Deathcap shop in Hogsmeade.
This shop is easy to miss in Hogsmeade, as it’s located to the far north of the town, across the river, in a little house built into the countryside. There’s a screenshot of its location below.
There, you can talk to the shop owner and purchase a single Mandrake for 500 gold or Mandrake Seeds for 800 gold. If you buy the seeds, then you’ll need to head back to the Room of Requirement or the herbology greenhouse and plant the Mandrake Seeds in a small pot potting station. They take 10 minutes to grow, but you will now have an infinite supply of Mandrakes. You can also buy some Fertilizer to make the Mandrakes grow faster in the pot.
Either way you do it, take your Mandrake and head out into the overworld. Find a group of two enemies, get them close to each other, and then whip out your Mandrake from your Tools menu. As long as the Mandrake affects both of them, you will complete the task. This might take a couple of tries, though, as the Mandrake doesn’t have the biggest radius, meaning the enemies need to be right next to each other. Just keep trying and you will eventually get the task done.
