The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 open beta is rapidly approaching, with an initial release date of Sept. 16. Of course, that release date only applies to those who either have a code or have pre-ordered the game on PlayStation 4 or 5. Every fan on all systems will eventually get a chance to partake in the beta, but PlayStation users will get to experience it for two weekends instead of just one. If players still need a code to access the beta in any capacity, there is one way through internet provider Xfinity.

Xfinity has partnered up with Call of Duty in the past to offer this same promotion. Essentially, if you are a paying Xfinity subscriber, then you likely have access to a free MW2 beta code. The process to acquire this code is fairly simple, but you can see the necessary steps to do so below.

Xfinity’s free Modern Warfare 2 beta code

First and foremost, you need to ensure that you have access to an account registered with Xfinity. This account needs to be a part of Xfinity in some shape or fashion. In other words, you can’t just make an account on the website, not pay anything, and still receive the code. So if you have your account information readily available, you can move on to the next steps.

  1. Go to Xfinity’s website, and log into your account using your email and password
  2. Find the “Rewards” tab on the black bar located on the home page
  3. If you’re not a member of Xfinity Rewards, then press the button to join the program (this is free for existing customers)
  4. Once on the Rewards page, you should see a box that is promoting the MW2 beta code
  5. Click on “Get this reward,” and follow the steps to claim the code
  6. If done correctly, you will see a page that has a beta code on it for you to copy and instructions on what to do with it

And that’s the entire process of receiving a free beta code. Sometime before the open beta begins on Sept. 16, you will receive an email from Activision that gives you your actual beta code to enter on your system. The code Xfinity initially provides just gives you the ability to receive the email with the code in it.
