To coincide with Apex Legends Season 12: Defiance and the game’s three-year anniversary celebration, players will be able to unlock Legends, Thematic Packs and a Legendary Pack for free every week.
Legends including Octane, Wattson and Valkyrie have been made unlockable for everyone. Each Legend has been available in a different week thus far; Octane was unlockable during the week of Feb. 8-15 and Wattson was unlockable during the week of Feb. 15-22. Valkyrie will take center stage from Feb. 22 through March 1.
To get your free Valkyrie unlock, simply log in to Apex Legends during the week she’s available. Yes, it’s really that easy. You don’t have to do anything other than log in to claim your free reward. You can hold on to your Legend Tokens and save them for Mad Maggie.
How to get a free Legendary pack
Along with Valkyrie, Respawn Entertainment will also give players three Thematic Packs and one Legendary Pack as a free reward for logging in. This is a step up from previous weeks, as players only received the Thematic Packs along with Octane and Wattson.
Thematic Packs are much like regular Apex Packs, but each of them is guaranteed to have at least one Rare (or better) item relating to the Legend it is themed after. Therefore, Valkyrie’s Thematic Packs will each have at least one Valkyrie item in them, along with the regular loot.
Legendary Packs are Apex Packs with at least one guaranteed Legendary item that you haven’t unlocked for any Legend. Considering regular Apex Packs only have a 7.4% drop rate for Legendary items, this is an excellent deal for simply logging in. Legendary Packs are typically only available for purchase in the store for 500 Apex Coins.
