Apex Legends has seen a lot of upgrades and changes since its release in 2019. This includes an addition to in-game experience, narratives, Legends and overall gameplay. However, players still face problems like freezing, crashing, lag and connection issues when playing the game.

Solution for Apex Legends freezing and crashing

Before fixing any issues on Apex Legends, you must ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements. Without this, the game will continuously crash — or not even open in most cases.

To stop Apex Legends from freezing and crashing you need to optimize your graphics settings to stop your Apex Legend. This will depend on your PC setting. If your PC meets the minimum requirements, there are a number of ways you can stop freezing and crashing once and for all.

Update or downgrade your PC driver

The first way to stop Apex Legends freezing and crashing issues is to update or downgrade your graphics driver.  You’ll need to downgrade your PC graphics driver if you recently updated it and Apex started crashing. Otherwise, it is recommended you always update your graphics driver as new updates, especially with the recent launch of Apex Legends Season 15.

Reinstall Apex or perform a system clean boot

If the graphics driver update does not work, you can reinstall Apex and perform a clean boot of your PC. This will disable background tasks that may be affecting the game. You can also repair the game files on Origin or close other programs running in the background as they can be responsible for frequent in-game freezes.

Cap frame rate for Apex

Another way to stop your game from freezing or crashing is to cap the frame rate. To do this go to the game library and right-click on Apex Legends. After this, click on game properties and the advanced launch options. Add ‘+fps_max 60″ to Command line arguments.

Anti-Easy Cheat/ Windows defender changes

If the other solutions do not stop your game from freezing, you will need to add Windows defender firewall exceptions or set easy anti-cheat priority to low in Task Manager. If lowering the anti-cheat priority works, you will have to do it every time you launch the game. After launching the game, open the task manager and go to the details tab. Here click on the easy anti-cheat program and right-click to select “set priority to low.”

For console players, you can stop Apex Legends from crashing or freezing with the following steps:

  • Download the latest software update
  • Perform a power cycle
  • Unplug devices attached to the USB slot
  • Reinstall game
  • Delete the local saved data
  • Turn off Convert incoming voice to chat text(PlayStation only)

How to fix Apex Legends to connection issues

To avoid lag and connection error issues when playing Apex Legends, there are a number of things you’ll need to do. Most connection issues in Apex are server-related so you’ll need to check the Apex servers often. It can also be caused due to wrong device configurations.

To fix this issue, you can see the game’s current status on the Apex Legends Help Center. There are also third-party sites like Down Detector and Apex Legend that lets you know exactly whether servers are down or not.

If there are no server issues you can check your internet connection with a speed test app. You can also restart your PC and update the PC drivers.

Additionally, you need to ensure you update your Windows, fix the date and time settings, and try logging in several times.

While the above steps should work, you can visit the Apex Legend Help Center and contact their team for more support by submitting your issue, account information and system details.
