One of the more fulfilling side quests early on in Baldur’s Gate 3 is called “Rescue the Gnome.” This quest involves some nasty goblins tormenting a poor gnome, who has been strapped to the blade of a windmill and is being thrust around in a circular motion.

You stumble upon this interaction when traipsing through the goblin camp in the Blighted Village. If you manage to save the gnome from his peril, then he will tell you a reward can be earned in the form of his pack.

Unfortunately, the gnome does not know where the goblins took his pack, so you will need to track it down if you want to be compensated for freeing the gnome. In this guide, I’ll explain exactly where to find the gnome’s pack in Baldur’s Gate 3 so you can completely finish the Rescue the Gnome quest.

Finding the Gnome’s Pack in Baldur’s Gate 3

Your first step in this endeavor will be to go to the backside of the windmill and look for a wooden hatch on the ground. You can find it right near some broken wooden columns, as seen in the screenshot below.

Open the wooden hatch to go inside and you will likely immediately be drawn to the large chest near the back of the room. While you can open that chest for some items, the real prize is on the wooden crate to the left of the chest. You can find the “Heavy Backpack” there, and this is the gnome’s pack you’ve been looking for in Baldur’s Gate 3.

You can open the heavy backpack for a few valuable items and then head back up the ladder to return to the Blighted Village. Rescue the Gnome has been fully completed, and you can venture on your journey in Baldur’s Gate 3.
