If you have spent any time in Diablo 4 since its launch on June 1-6, then you have likely faced one of the harder opponents in the game: the queue.
The queue pops up when the servers at Blizzard are having issues or the developers just released an update for the game. Since launch, players have been able to get into Diablo 4 without having to face a queue pretty regularly. However, there have been some instances of players seeing a queue of over 1,000 minutes.
Naturally, players want to know if the queue actually takes that long or if there’s anything they can do to lower that number. From my own experience, the number you see may not be accurate. Here’s how to figure out how long the queue time is in Diablo 4.
Queue time in Diablo 4
Most of the time, you will likely see a queue of anywhere from one to five minutes, as the servers haven’t kept players waiting too long for most of Diablo 4’s life so far. Naturally, the time you face will determine on a few factors. If you are playing at the start of a new season or update, then your queue times will likely be longer than at other times. However, for the most part, your time spent in the queue shouldn’t last more than 15-20 minutes.
Of course, if you’re one of the unlucky few to see a queue of anywhere from 1,000-2,000 minutes, then you are in a different boat. If you see a queue of this size, I recommend exiting Diablo 4 and restarting the application.
The queue should never be that long, and even if you decide to wait it out and not exit the game, your time spent in the queue shouldn’t be the number you’re looking at. I have heard from several colleagues and other players that their queues dramatically decreased by simply waiting a few minutes or restarting the game.
So, to sum up, the current queue times in Diablo 4 don’t appear to be long at all. The most I have waited in a queue is roughly 10 minutes unless the servers were completely down or truly malfunctioning. In those cases, it’s completely up to Blizzard how long players spend in a queue, as the developers need to work to get the servers back up and running.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to tell how long you will be out of Diablo 4 in that situation. You simply have to wait for the servers to be restored to their working order. While all you can do is wait, you absolutely want to ensure that your PC or console doesn’t turn off during the waiting process. This will reset your place in the queue and make you start completely over.
