It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to be the biggest game of 2023, in terms of its overall size. No other game can touch what Larian Studios has crafted over the past several years. However, to truly put into perspective just how expansive Baldur’s Gate 3 is, we need to look at how many endings there are in the full game.

While the number of endings a game has doesn’t always give an indication as to how big it is, that’s the case in the newest Baldur’s Gate title. The endings give players an idea of just how many branches their story has and the sheer volume of characters and decisions that play a factor in what they see before the end credits roll.

You can see the rough number of endings Baldur’s Gate 3 has in the guide below.

The number of endings in Baldur’s Gate 3

YouTuber Fextralife recently published a video where they go over what they were able to gather from developers at Larian Studios at an early access event for Baldur’s Gate 3. Here, they asked the lead writer how many endings the game had.

According to the lead writer, there are 17,000 different variations of the ending in Baldur’s Gate 3. There are, of course, several factors to consider when actually looking at the number. First and foremost, though, this doesn’t mean that Larian Studios has hand-crafted 17,000 different endings. What it actually means is that there are close to 17,000 small variations that can happen to the ending depending on what class/race players chose and the decisions they made throughout the game.

For example, if you kill several of the key NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3, your ending would be different than someone who didn’t kill those characters. However, your endings would still be somewhat similar if you chose the same race and class.

In terms of completely different endings, there aren’t anywhere near 17,000 of those. There are likely a solid number of them, though. We don’t have a good idea as to that number, however, so we’ll have to wait and see how many endings players find when Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on Aug. 3. What we do know is that your ending will likely be at least a little different compared to someone else.
