Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is finally releasing tomorrow, March 3 after a lengthy development process and a free demo that hyped up the community. While this game is inspired by titles such as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, it is a new take on the genre of challenging, action-adventure RPGs. One of the aspects that separates Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty from those other titles is its story, which will take a varying amount of time to beat based on the skill level of each player.
The story is set during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. This period lasted from 220-280 AD and saw different divisions, Cao Wei, Shu Han, and Eastern Wu, take over the ruling lands of China. It’s one of the more interesting settings for a game to take place in, and players will have access to both melee and magical combat during their time in the Three Kingdoms.
While the entire story is a subject for another day, allow us to explain exactly how long each player will likely spend playing Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
How long to beat the story in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
In our experience, it will take roughly 25-30 hours of playtime to entirely beat the story in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. This should be the median amount of time for the average player to spend to reach the end credits.
However, given how challenging Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s gameplay is, some players will certainly have a tougher time getting through the game, which will result in their playtime dragging on for longer. On the flip side of that, Soulsborne veterans might be able to zip through the game in under 20 hours if they truly don’t find the combat overly difficult.
If you’re going for a completionist run, we would project your total playtime coming in at around 40-45 hours. On average, though, players can expect a 25 hour campaign in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
