Since the start of 2022, there’s been widespread speculation around when Hogwarts Legacy will release. Last week, some unsubstantiated leaks surfaced that stated the game was being delayed until 2023. However, shortly after those leaks went public, Warner Media CEO Jason Kilar tweeted that the company will introduce a slate of highly-anticipated games in 2022. Warner Bros. is the publisher behind Hogwarts Legacy, with Avalanche Studios developing the game.
Now, at the tail end of January, another leak has popped up that echoes what Kilar stated. The leak states that Hogwarts Legacy is set to release in September 2022, with an exact date unknown. This will be preceded by a gameplay trailer sometime in February/March. The leaker who reported this information says the rumored upcoming PlayStation State of Play event in February could reveal this trailer. The trailer will reportedly show off the game’s abilities/skills system with raw gameplay footage.
Hogwarts Legacy leak offers a release month
The leaker in question is @AccountNGT, who has a history of reporting accurate information on video games before it’s publically announced. The account tweeted about the Hogwarts Legacy leaks earlier this afternoon but said themselves for fans to take it with a grain of salt.
On Hogwarts Legacy because some people have asked about that, expect a September release, next trailer based on skills / abilities in February / March (PlayStation event in any case)

They followed up that tweet by saying they didn’t know anything else about the game’s release or upcoming news. However, they did say that an exact release could be given after the February/March trailer goes live. If it does, then players can expect pre-orders to open up along with it. Players on any last or current-generation console and PC are able to play Hogwarts Legacy.
So far, not much else is known about the gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy. The developers have confirmed what players will be doing inside of the game but little else. What we do know is that players assume the role of a new student at Hogwarts in the 1800s, get sorted into a House and uncover a hidden truth in the Wizarding World. Hogwarts will be at the forefront of players’ adventures but they can also venture beyond the castle walls as well.
As of right now, it seems as though players will need to wait until February to hear anything further about Hogwarts Legacy.
