There’s just a week until Square Enix’s newest project, Forspoken, releases on both PlayStation 5 and PC. The open world role-playing game has been available in the form of an open demo on PS5 for a month, but Jan. 24 is the first time that fans will get full access to the game.

While PS5 fans don’t have anything to worry about in terms of running the game, the same can’t be said for those on PC. The system requirements for Forspoken on PC are quite hefty, requiring modern hardware to run the game at 1080p. This had led to some questions from the community, including if the Steam Deck will be able to handle Forspoken.

As of right now, Forspoken is not on the official Deck Verified list, which tracks all of the games that are playable on the handheld computer. However, many fans are assuming that since Final Fantasy XV is playable on Steam Deck, Forspoken will be as well. Both games are developed by Square Enix and run on the same game engine. Also, Forspoken only requires a GTX 1060 graphics card to play at minimum settings, and other Steam Deck games have required better hardware than that.

While it remains to be seen whether or not Forspoken will be available on Valve’s handheld device, fans can see the minimum system requirements needed to run the game below. These will give fans a good idea of what kind of performance they can expect from the Steam Deck.

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (3.7GHz or better) / Intel Core i7-3770 (3.7Ghz or better)
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB VRAM
  • Storage: 150 GB HDD space

Fans will need at least 150 GB of storage space, which might require fans to delete some games or upgrade their SSD. However, the rest of the specs should meet the demands of the Steam Deck. The only remaining question is whether or not Forspoken will be a supported game on the device.
