With the 2018 Hearthstone All-Star Invitational coming to a close Dec. 30, the Taiwanese player Wu “BloodTrail” Zong-Chang won in the finals against 2017 Hearthstone World Champion Chen “tom60229” Wei Lin and walked away with the grand prize of $20,000. After the finals played out, the location for the Hearthstone 2018 World Championship was revealed. Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan, will be the next host for the world championship this time around. The HCT World Championship will be held on April 25-28, 2019.
Taiwan was also the host of one of the HCT Tour stops in 2018, with the event being hosted in Taichung on Aug. 2-5 2018 and won by the Japanese player “Horo.” Taiwan is also the home country of the previous world champion, tom60229.
Qualified Players
While there aren’t many players qualified for the 2018 Hearthstone World Championship yet, among them are Raphael ”Bunnyhoppor” Peltzer and Kacper ”A83650” Kwieciński, who qualified through their placements in the HCT Summer Championship 2018. Also qualified are Mihai “Languagehacker” Dragalin and Brian “Bloodyface” Eason, who won their spot at the World Championship through their placements at the HCT Fall Championship.
We will know more about who will be making an appearance soon, as the HCT Winter Playoffs will be played out throughout this month. The action will start with Europe on Jan. 12 & 13, the Americas on Jan. 19 & 20, and lastly Asia-Pacific regions on Jan. 26 & 27.
