The Gfinity Elite Series is coming back with competition in CS:GO, Rocket League, and Street Fighter V. The series, presented by Alienware, will return this November. Season 2 follows the success of Season 1 earlier this year. The first season had a prize pool of AU$225,000. Both pro players and drafter gamers battled it out at the HOYTS Entertainment Quarter in Sydney. It’s a custom built esports broadcast arena, and was unveiled for Season 1. This followed the strong partnership of Gfinity Esports Australia and HOYTS.
Successful Season 1
Season 1 of the Gfinity Elite Series was a roaring success. The Melbourne-based ORDER dominated the field. They took out victories in all three titles: CS:GO, Rocket League, and Street Fighter V. Gfinity Esports Australia’s CEO Dominic Remond believes rivalries will be reignited during Season 2:
Melbourne ORDER’s dominant victory last season has set the tone for Season 2. We expect to see old rivalries reignited. Melbourne ORDER have a target on their back, and with roster changes across the clubs, fans are in for our most competitive season yet. Aussies love a dark horse, and now we have five.
Yes Aussies and their dark horses. Speaking of the fans loving the action, there was plenty of action during Season 1. Over 4.8 million views were received across Twitch and national television. The five city-based teams from Season 1 will return in Season 2. The finals are set to take place on the 15 & 16 December at HOYTS.
Darkhorses
The returning teams from Season 1 are Sydney Chiefs, Sydney Roar, Melbourne Avant, Melbourne ORDER, Brisbane Deceptors, and Perth Ground Zero. Australian rivalries will be hot off the plate. There’s a good representation of states across the country. Each of the teams have made roster changes and drafted players from the recent Gfinity Challenger Series. While many of the teams competed last year, this fresh talent will stir the pot. Hopefully we’ll see some unexpected results. Remond says the Gfinity series helped build esports in Australia:
The Challenger Series injected plenty of new blood into the Australian esports community, and it’s inspiring to see these players returning for Season 2. The performance of draftees like Doom and Syo were integral to the performance of their clubs, and their continued involvement speaks volumes to the system we’ve built.

Gfinity Elite Series to start in November
The series kicks off on November 3 with CS:GO. Rocket League and Street Fighter V will begin the following day. All games will be played live at the HOYTS Gfinity Esports Arena. Logitech and Dare Iced Coffee are set as series partners alongside Alienware. With a lineup like that, these events are sure to be exciting.
