The third installment of Fortnite’s Season 8 challenges are here, with both the free and Battle Pass challenges posing some difficult tasks. As always, players can complete many of these challenges while simply playing a game of Fortnite, but some will take special attention.

Here are both the free and Battle Pass specific challenges and how to complete them:

Free Challenges

Place different trap slot items in a single match (0/2)

This challenge does involve some RNG but is simple in action. The four current trap items in Fortnite are: the damage trap, the campfire, the launchpad, and the turret. Find just two of these in a single match, place them down, and challenge complete.

Stage 1: Destroy different cacti in the desert (0/30), Stage 2: Search ammo boxes in the snow, Stage 3: Search chests in the jungle

The first part of this stage requires you to visit the southeast portion of the map. You need to shoot and destroy 30 catci in any part of the desert biome, which can be found abundantly across the landscape. The second part takes you to the southwest snow biome and search ammo boxes. For the final stage, head on over to the new jungle in the northeast and search chests. Another Battle Pass challenge requires searching Sunny Steps chests, so you can complete two challenges at once.

Visit Fatal Fields and Salty Springs in a single match / Visit Haunted Hills and Tilted Towers in a single match / Visit Frosty Flights and Loot Lake in a single match (0/3)

As usual, this is the challenge that will need some special attention. The easiest way to go about it is to just set aside 5-10 matches, pick one of the landing spots for each stage, and sneak your way to the other location. It will require some luck, however, depending on where the zone is.

For the Fatal and Salty challenge, you can kill two birds with one stone and land Fatal to search some chests. That being said, rotating from Salty to Fatal mid-game is presumably the smarter choice overall.

For Haunted and Tilted, definitely land Haunted first. The zone rarely pushes the northwest side of the map, and Titled is almost always inside. Grab some good loot from Haunted, then make your way over to Tilted.

The next stage is quite the trek. Like with Haunted, Frosty Flights is almost never in zone, so that’s where you want to drop. The journey to Loot Lake is long, but there will be some Baller spawns along the way.

Battle Pass Challenges

Search where the magnifying glass sits on the Treasure Map loading screen (0/1)

The weekly “search where” challenge this week can be found south of Polar Peak and east of Frosty Flights. In the image below, you can see exactly where you need to go on the map. You’ll find the battle star south of the iceberg sticking out of the ground with the chests on it. Look for the dark spot on the ground. There is also a zip line nearby, which can come in handy for the first free challenge.

The battle star can be found where the player icon is on the map.

Search chests at Sunny Steps or Fatal Fields (0/7)

Prepare for the usually quiet Sunny Steps to be the new Tilted Towers for the next couple of days. Players all want that XP or Battle Star boost, and searching chests is one of the easiest challenges to complete. While it will take some luck, each pyramid at Sunny Steps has a maximum of three chests, so land at the least inhabited one and hope for the best. Fatal Fields will also be a hot drop this week, but there are a few niche chest spawns. A few can spawn in the wooden outhouses on the outskirts of the farms, which don’t see too much activity. The red barn and Grandma’s house are sure to be contested but can spawn two chests each game.

Deal headshot damage to opponents (0/500)

An easy task in theory but more difficult in practice. Headshots can be more easily attained while using more accurate guns like the AK or Scar. Pump shotguns can also be used to get effective headshots. Another method to deal headshot damage would be to hop into the Disco Domination LTM, wait by a dancefloor, and shoot unexpecting enemies while they are dancing.

Get an elimination with an SMG, pistol, and a Sniper Rifle (0/3)

Playing the game on a regular basis will allow you to complete this challenge fairly easily. The silenced SMG is the most common SMG found across the map and as long as you keep picking it up, you will eventually get that kill. For pistols, early game gray pistols are a good way to kill enemies who have no gun. The Deagle is also a solid option, even with its recent nerf. Getting a sniper rifle kill will take both luck and skill, but weakening an enemy in the open and then switching to your sniper for the finish may be the best bet here.

Hidden Battle Star Location

As always, once you complete every challenge for Week 3, the hidden battle star becomes available. Finding this battle star allows you to skip one tier in the Battle Pass. This week, you’ll find it south of Sunny Steps and southeast of the volcano. The star is located at a small shrine similar to the ones found in Sunny. Land on the correct spot, interact with it, and you’re done. Congratulations!

And that’s it! We hope you enjoyed our breakdown and we hope this guide came in handy! Check back next week for the solutions to Week 4 of the Season 8 challenges! Any thoughts or feedback? Drop them in the comments below! For more content, make sure you check out our dedicated Fortnite page.
