Fnatic has lost their long-time AD Carry, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson. According to Esportsmaníacos journalist Pablo “BloopGG” Suarez, Rekkles is reportedly heading to G2 Esports for the 2021 season, replacing Luka “Perkz” Perković. The veteran bot laner has spent the eight years with Fnatic, achieving incredible results in the LEC and at Worlds. While some may see this as a huge loss for Fnatic, it’s only the beginning of some long overdue changes.

A change of pace for G2 Esports

Rekkles is a well-decorated player in the LEC. He’s carried the team to five LEC grand finals, took Fnatic to six World Championships, came top 4 at MSI 2018, and has won the LEC MVP title three times. While he is known as the top ADC of EU, it doesn’t mean that his journey stops there. According to sources, Fnatic gave Rekkles a chance to pick between them and G2 Esports, a choice that ultimately ended with him leaving his long-term team.

As Rekkles signs with rival G2 Esports, he’ll be going head to head with former Fnatic teammates for future matches. For years, Fnatic has faced off against G2 in important matches, only for the team to repeatedly fall short of success in the LEC. Now, Rekkles will be joining the rival team to continue denying Fnatic any trophies for the upcoming season.

Farewell to Fnatic Rekkles

As Fnatic announced their goodbyes to their ADC, Fnatic CEO Sam Matthews thanked him for the time spent in the last few years. “He’s been a rock, a captain, a friend. It’s a sad change of an era, but all eras come to an end.”

Although the deal has not been officially confirmed, fans are already reacting strongly to the news. Some are stating that Rekkles is irreplaceable, while others stay concerned for Fnatic’s future. At the moment, there is no confirmed replacement to fill Rekkles’ spot, but whoever they will be will have pretty big shoes to fill.
