After a riveting four-game series, Fnatic is moving on to the EU LCS Summer Finals after beating Misfits.

The reigning champions were coming into the EU LCS semifinals looking very strong. Their All-Star mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther is playing like the MVP of the Split. Also, the return of superstar ADC Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has given the team a boost of confidence heading into the playoffs. Their flex top laner and bottom lane carry Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau has been playing like the Rookie of the Split, even though he won’t get the award. The whole team is clicking on all cylinders and when they are on a roll, they are one of the best teams in the West.
Misfits would start the 2018 EU LCS Summer Split with a bang, as they would go undefeated until week five. However, they would only win two more games through the rest of the season. Their bottom lane is one of the strongest in the region. Steven “Hans Sama” Liv has been the source of a lot of the team’s success, with multiple carries on Draven and Tristana. On the other hand, their mid laner Chres “Sencux” Laursen would be a liability for multiple games in the season. As a result, this discrepancy would be huge in their series against Fnatic.
The Year of the Clap
In game one, the return of Rekkles could be felt throughout the match. His Tristana was dominant, making great plays across the map. However, we could also throw some question marks at the draft of Misfits. Choosing Kalista and Ivern was an unusual duo to pick, especially against Rekkles’ Tristana. This first game would end up being a stomp, with Fnatic winning with an 18 to 6 scoreline. Also, it would be the quickest game in the series, ending in 28 minutes.
Misfits jungler Nubar “Maxlore” Sarafian would pick Kindred in game two. He would focus more on the bottom lane as well and would give Hans Sama a huge lead. He would end up crushing the rest of the game, going 8/0/4. Caps would also be a nonfactor in the game, going 1/4/3 on Corki. It felt like Fnatic would lose the game by themselves, by getting behind early when they had a scaling composition. It was a pretty sad setback, but they would be able to bounce back in game three.
Their third game would be the closest match yet, with Caps choosing a spicy pick in Vayne in the mid lane. However, Misfits would take a huge lead heading into the mid-game, with Hans Sama taking a huge lead on Tristana. However, like most of their season, they would live by Hans Sama and die by Hans Sama. A huge pick by Caps on the Misfits’ ADC late would actually win the game for his team.

The fourth game would end up being the Caps Show, with the young, mid lane prodigy carrying Fnatic to the win. His constant picks on LeBlanc were essential for their success. Hans Sama would become the X-factor for Misfits again, but he wouldn’t be able to get much of a lead. Even Rekkles would slowly become strong on Sivir, and they would eventually overpower Misfits into the late game.

Final Thoughts
Fnatic now heads into the EU LCS Summer Finals facing off against FC Schalke 04, who just took down Team Vitality. Fnatic will have to rely on Caps and Rekkles once again to help lift their team to victory. Schalke will need to find a way to shut down the dominant mid lane star, or Fnatic will probably defend their title once again. Misfits will now head to the third-place match against Vitality. I still think Misfits has the potential to be a good representative for the EU LCS at Worlds.
