Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjid and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen have joined Fnatic’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, the organization announced on Friday. The move comes amid a rebuilding period for Fnatic, who have not fielded a set roster since March 2022.
Nicoodoz is a rising talent in the AWPing role. RoeJ has had a longer tenure in high level CS:GO, playing as a rifler on mostly Danish rosters.
“We’re very happy to have those players as we continue to build out Fnatic Counter-Strike, taking it back to another height,” Patrik Sattermon, chief gaming officer of Fnatic, said in the announcement video.
Nicoodoz and roeJ transfer to Fnatic from the Copenhagen Flames. The Flames are now left without two of the core pieces in the roster that defied odds at both PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and PGL Major Antwerp 2022. At the latter event, the Flames reached the playoffs, beating out much larger and more establish orgs for the spot.
Since the conclusion of PGL Major Stockholm, Copenhagen Flames had been looking to move their roster to a larger organization capable of paying the players a competitive salary. The team had hoped to stay together, but ultimately it did not pan out that way.

Fnatic recently moved Alexander “ALEX” McMeekin and Valentin “poizon” Vasilev to the bench, making room for new additions to the team. The United Kingdom-based org is continuing with an international roster, having in the past been known for running a full Swedish roster. While roeJ and nicoodoz have played for primarily all-Danish rosters in the past, both players are fluent in English.
Fnatic is keeping William “mezii” Merriman (who is likely assuming the in-game leader role) and Counter-Strike legend Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson as the core of their roster.
“We are building around mezii and KRIMZ,” Sattermon said. “Really excited about those two building blocks, and have been since we moved into the market of building a new team.”
As of yet, the team has not announced the final member of their roster.
“When it comes to the fifth member, we are still in the last stage trials,” Sattermon said. “Meanwhile, [we’re] also keeping a close eye on the transfer market.”
Fnatic compete soon at the Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022, which runs from June 8-11 in Lund, Sweden. For a team that has a long history with Swedish Counter-Strike, the event may be a portentous debut for the new roster.
